Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Bobby Massie has been suspended three games by the NFL.

Massie, who started 16 games last season, was expected to be the right tackle again. First round draft pick D.J Humphries had been practicing at right tackle and would be potential competition for Massie.

Humphries had been out of practice for the past week with a knee injury but is expected back Tuesday. Third-year pro Earl Watford and Bradley Sowell are also in the mix, and it was Watford who was playing right tackle with the second-team offense in Monday’s practice.

Whoever ends up filling in, offensive lineman Ted Larsen feels like the Cardinals will be fine.

“We’ve got good depth and guys that have been playing well and that can step and keep trying to play to the level Bobby plays at,” he said.

Still, it’s the type of thing a team like the Cardinals, who have goals of winning the Super Bowl, do not really want to have to deal with.

“It’s one of those things you hate to hear, you hope that the appeal process goes in our favor,” Calais Campbell said. “But it’s one of those things you have to deal with. It’s one of those things that when something happens you look him in the eye, he has to be accountable to his team. Tell him ‘we need you back, make sure you’re ready if you do have to miss games,’ and somebody else gets the opportunity to step up.”

Massie has been with the Cardinals for four seasons, playing in 40 games. He was a fourth-round selection in 2012 out of Ole Miss.
