Cardinals draft OT Nate Potter from Boise State at 221

Apr 28, 2012, 9:03 PM | Updated: 10:42 pm

The Arizona Cardinals selected OT Nate Potter from Boise State with the
221st
pick overall Saturday.

The 6’6″ 303-pounder started all four years at Boise State. He has good
athletic ability but needs to add weight to his frame. He has the potential to
be a solid pass protection blocker if he adds to his body mass but he’ll
need to get stronger if he wants to become a starting offensive tackle.

Potter has proven to be a consistent force on the field at Boise State, having
started every game the past two years for the Broncos.

He possesses quickness, good range and is a solid technical blocker. He
has the skills to earn a starting job but will likely need a few years of
seasoning before he is ready to tackle such a role. Potter has big hands and
could be assigned to block against speedy edge
rushers.

The Cardinals made Potter their final selection in the 2012 NFL draft. They
opted to choose three linemen in this year’s draft who all have high level
potential and could develop nicely under their coaching staff.

Potter will likely be listed behind Levi Brown and D.J. Young at left tackle.
