The Pulse: Mixed feelings on Darnell Dockett’s departure

Mar 6, 2015, 5:35 PM | Updated: 5:35 pm

It was a surprise. Sort of.

As soon as the Arizona Cardinals cut defensive lineman Darnell Dockett, there was an understanding that he could very well end up finding a new team.

Yet, until he did, there remained hope that he would return to the Cardinals, the team that took him in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Florida State.

Then word came out Thursday that he had chosen to sign with the San Francisco 49ers.

Yeah, those 49ers.

Needless to say, opinions on his defection were mixed. In our Sanderson Ford Poll Question of the Day, which can be found on the right-hand column of our home page, we asked for your thoughts on Dockett.

A total of 938 votes were submitted, with the most going to “Wish he would have left the division.”

After that, though, there was a bit of anger. The next-highest total went to “Dockett is just chasing the money.”

The Cardinals will face off with Dockett and his new team twice in 2015.
