Arizona Diamondbacks sign pitcher Randy Wolf to minor league contract

Apr 11, 2014, 6:36 PM | Updated: 6:36 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks added another arm Friday in the form of veteran pitcher Randy Wolf to a minor league contract.

The team announced it had come to an agreement with the left-hander who had actually won a spot in the Seattle Mariners’ starting rotation out of spring training, but asked for and was granted his release after the team tried to alter his contract.

Wolf, 37, missed the entire 2013 season after having Tommy John surgery and posted a 5.40 ERA in 15 innings of work. In 2012 he was with the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles, combining to go 5-10 with a 5.65 ERA.

Wolf has pitched in parts of 14 Major League seasons with the Phillies, Brewers, Dodgers, Padres, Orioles and Astros, and owns a career record of 130-117 with a 4.19 ERA.
