Arizona Diamondbacks lefty Robbie Ray will not make his scheduled Monday rehab start and will instead prep to be pulled off the disabled list for a Wednesday game against the Miami Marlins, D-backs manager Torey Lovullo told media Monday.

Ray hasn’t played since April 29, when he left after 1.1 innings pitched with a right oblique strain that put him on the 10-day disabled list. He’s made two rehabs starts in the minors, last throwing for Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Ray allowed one run and allowed four baserunners in 4.1 innings while striking out nine.

On June 14 with Single-A Visalia, Ray threw 2.1 innings, allowing two runs and five hits — both scores came off solo home runs.

In six starts for Arizona this season, Ray went 2-0 with a 4.88 ERA.

His return follows the reinstatement of Shelby Miller, who coming off Tommy John surgery was pulled off the 60-day disabled list Monday for a start against the Marlins to open the four-game road series.

Also on Monday, the Diamondbacks sent veteran starting pitcher Clay Buchholz to the 10-day disabled list with a left oblique injury. His ultimate return could force the D-backs to make a difficult decision regarding keeping Buchholz versus demoting another pitcher in their starting rotation considering Buchholz has gone 2-1 with a 2.56 ERA in seven starts this season.

More healing snakes

In addition to Ray and Miller returning, the D-backs could see outfielders A.J. Pollock (broken thumb) and Steve Souza Jr. (pectoral) back in the majors in the near future.

Lovullo told reporters, including The Athletic’s Zach Buchanan, that Pollock has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Souza can begin a rehab assignment as a designated hitter but is still working up through a throwing program.
