Despite a questionable tag heading into Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, running back David Johnson is expected to play for the Arizona Cardinals.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Twitter that Johnson was expected to take the field.

Johnson has dealt with back and ankle injuries for the last two weeks, missed practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday and Friday.

The five-year pro leads the Cardinals in rushing with 298 yards and two touchdowns on the season. He is second on the team with 30 receptions and 315 receiving yards and he leads the Cardinals with three touchdown receptions.

Johnson should have plenty of opportunity to add to those numbers against a Giants defense that ranks 28th in the NFL in yards per game allowed and 31st in passing yards per game allowed.

The questionable designation could provide more opportunities for backup Chase Edmonds. In the last two games, Edmonds has racked up 102 rushing yards, 51 receiving yards and two total touchdowns, providing a nice complement to Johnson in the Cardinals backfield.

With a win on Sunday, the Cardinals would match their win total from the 2018 season with nine games remaining on the schedule and the three-game win streak would match the teams longest since 2015.
