Coyotes’ Raffi Torres suspended indefinitely

Apr 18, 2012, 4:17 PM | Updated: 5:19 pm

Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres, according various reports, has
been
suspended indefinitely by the National Hockey League
pending
an in-person visit with league officials Friday.

Torres laid a brutal hit on Chicago’s Marian Hossa in the
first period of the Coyotes’ 3-2 overtime win in Game 3 of
the
Western Conference Quarterfinals Tuesday night.

No penalty was called on the play, and Hossa was taken off
the ice via stretcher and spent time in a Chicago
hospital.

Torres has a history of suspensions, and that is one of
the
factors that NHL senior vice president of player safety
Brendan Shanahan considers when doling out suspensions.

The Coyotes lead the series 2-1 with Game 4 slated for
Thursday night in Chicago.
