Analyst: Bulger still has ‘fire’ to start

As the Cardinals rumor mill churns out more Kolb-to-Cardinals stories, one analyst said that another Cardinals-linked quarterback still has “the fire to play as a starter”.

That quarterback is Marc Bulger.

Bulger spent last season on the bench in Baltimore, a possible concern for a team who is need of a full-time starter. Should Bulger be content to finish out his NFL career as a backup quarterback, he’ll surely find a team willing to pay him for a “just in case” situation.

But according to NBC Sports, Sports Xchange’s Len Pasquarelli said Bulger might not have been content as he seemed on the bench last season.

“Last year, when he didn’t get off the bench it wasn’t like he got completely cozy with being the No. 2 guy,” said Pasquarelli’s source. “The situation, though, will have to be the right one.”

If Pasquarelli’s source — his and Bulger’s fathers were high school friends — turns out to be correct, Arizona could be a good fit. Bulger would be practically guaranteed to start and would have a few sets of good hands on the receiving end of the ball, including Larry Fitzgerald.

Bulger coming to Arizona could be a good option for the Cardinals as well, as Bulger would likely be a cheaper option than the Kevin Kolb.
