Bruce Arians gets to wear his signature hat against the Vikings without a fine

Coach Bruce Arians will be donning his favorite piece of headwear during the Arizona Cardinals’ game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Perhaps more shockingly, he won’t be fined by the NFL, according to the Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers.

Arians, as part of his Arians Foundation, presented a $150,000 check to Voices for CASA Children prior to kickoff on Thursday night, and his headwear is a related matter.
Back in 2013, the Cardinals coach asked the league to allow him to wear his signature headwear — which he dons at practices and on the golf course, among other places. He was denied despite the fact his hats are New Era apparel, and it already has a relationship with the league.

Apparently, Arians finally got the OK from the NFL for a nationally televised game because it was related to his charitable work.

The Arians Foundation, which is run by Bruce and his wife Christine, has been involved with the CASA program for some time and a few years ago sold the New Era ‘gatsby’ hats with all proceeds going to their charity.

This is all good news and surprising for the NFL, which has a history of making no exceptions regarding uniform policies.

This year, the league refused to let Steelers running back DeAngelo Williams wear pink for the entire year to honor his mother, who lost her battle to breast cancer. The NFL likewise fined Williams’ teammate, Cameron Heyward, for sporting eye black that honored his late father.
