Eagles want more than DRC — really?

If the latest round of rumors is to believed, the Arizona Cardinals are ready to send cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to Philadelphia in exchange for quarterback Kevin Kolb.

Surprisingly, though, it appears the Eagles may want more than just the defensive back if they are to part with their backup QB.

“To me, I think Rodgers-Cromartie for Kolb is big, I think it’s a lot,” Mark Asher said on Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash show. “You’re trading a Pro-Bowl cornerback.”

John Gambadoro said while he wants to see Kolb in Arizona, he’s not a big fan of giving up a proven player in exchange for him.

Regardless, Gambadoro thinks the deal, whatever it is, has been done for a while.

“When the Cardinals went to the NFL Draft and did not select a quarterback in the draft, that signaled to me that they had this deal with Kevin Kolb already done,” he said.

If Gambadoro is right, the Cardinals taking a cornerback in the first round may be a sign that a DRC for Kolb swap was, in fact, in the works.

While many thought Patrick Peterson was selected so he could team with Rodgers-Cromartie in the defensive backfield, it’s possible he was instead taken as a replacement.

If the Cardinals are going to get Kolb, chances are the move will be made shortly after the league allows it. There won’t be any time to waste, and Arizona would want their new QB in town to workout with his teammates and learn the playbook as soon as possible.
