A lamb for Lamb: D-backs welcome animal to clubhouse

The Arizona Diamondbacks will stop at nothing to get their guy into the All-Star Game.
Jake Lamb, who is very much having an All-Star season with a .292 average, 19 home runs and 59 RBI, is battling four other NL players in a fan vote to claim the final spot on the roster.
Already the D-backs have teamed up with the Tampa Bay Rays, whose own third baseman, Evan Longoria, is in a similar contest for the American League, but that was not all.
No, Wednesday they welcomed an actual lamb to the clubhouse, and the plan is for it to take part in pre-game festivities.

There is no way to know how much impact the lamb will have on Lamb’s chances, though the shear audacity of what the team has done should be commended.
The results of the voting, which can be done online here, will be re-veal-ed Friday, July 8. Of course, if Lamb does not win, the folks who participated in this might feel a little sheepish.
