Video: Former Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd’s DUI arrest in Scottsdale

The Scottsdale Police Department on Tuesday released a body-cam video of former Arizona Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd being taken into custody for DUI in Scottsdale.

Floyd was arrested at 2:48 a.m. on the morning of Monday, Dec. 12 after officers found him asleep at the intersection of Camelback Road and Goldwater Boulevard. An officer behind Floyd’s car, which was in the left-turn lane of a stoplight, waited through two light cycles before he got out of the car and found Floyd asleep and with his foot on the brake.

The video footage shows Floyd unconscious in his vehicle and officers waking him up.

The then-Cardinals player had slurred speech. Once he woke up, he struggled to follow instructions to turn the car off and then keep his hands on the steering wheel when he did not follow the first command.

Floyd was charged with two counts of DUI, one count of obstructing a roadway, and failure to obey a police officer, according to the police report.

Two days after the arrest, the Cardinals released Floyd, their 2012 first-round draft pick.

He was picked up off waivers by the New England Patriots a day later.

Arizona president Michael Bidwill said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM six days after the arrest that Floyd showed “no remorse” for his actions and that the team asked him “to be proactive in terms of his approach.” Bidwill also called him “unapologetic.”

“I was really disappointed with how he handled this and you know, how he was handling his approach to the game, his approach to conditioning and approach to things, and I think it was affecting him, some of his issues were affecting him on the field,” Bidwill added.

With Arizona, Floyd had 33 receptions for 446 yards and four touchdowns with the Cardinals this season.

Floyd was inactive for his first game as a member of the Patriots.
