LISTEN: Steve Keim, AZ Cardinals GM

It’s not often an 11-3 football team, getting ready for what amounts to a division championship game, doesn’t have certainty about who their starting quarterback will be.

That’s the situation the Arizona Cardinals find themselves in as they get ready to host the Seattle Seahawks Sunday night in Glendale.

Drew Stanton injured his knee last week against St. Louis and is out for an indefinite amount of time.

So will Ryan Lindley or rookie Logan Thomas start at quarterback for the Cardinals Sunday night against Seattle?

“That’s a better question for Coach Arians,” Arizona general manager Steve Keim told Doug and Wolf Monday on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “We’ll continue to discuss it. I know that Tom Moore, Bruce and Freddy Kitchens will have those guys ready to play and they’ll be prepared for Sunday night.”

While the mystery remains about the starter, the Cardinals are optimistic about Stanton. National reports circulated Sunday that he would miss four weeks with his injured right knee, but that may not be the case.

“With that type of knee injury, everybody heals differently,” Keim said. “I know that ESPN and some other outlets have put a timeline on it, which is extremely difficult to do. You can say it’s going to be four weeks. I’ve heard people say one-and-a-half weeks.

“Everybody heals differently and Drew will be in here around the clock rehabbing and I know he’ll be ready to go as soon as possible.”

That’s not to say the Cardinals won’t bring in another quarterback, though.

“We’ll end up adding a quarterback to the practice squad just for emergency purposes,” Keim said. “For the time being, we’re excited about what Logan and Ryan can do for us.”

Lindley and Thomas have combined to throw only 189 passes in the NFL.
