Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock left his second game of a rehab assignment in the first inning with right quad tightness on Monday.

The Reno Aces said he is listed as day-to-day, and Arizona manager Torey Lovullo told Burns and Gambo on 98.7 FM, Arizona’s Sports Station that it might push Pollock’s progress back “a day or two.”

“We are close to the end of the road with A.J. being on the DL. We know that,” Lovullo said Tuesday. “He’s cleared a lot of hurdles, but along the way, you are going to have a couple hiccups. This is a situation where we may take a step backwards, we may push it back a day or two.”

Lovullo said Pollock went through agility drills and some “light baseball” training on Tuesday without trouble. The Aces are off on Wednesday, and the center fielder is expected to return to full baseball activities on Thursday.

“We’ll see where he’s at from that day forward,” Lovullo said.

Pollock, who went on the 10-day disabled list May 15 for a Grade 1 right groin strain, began his rehab assignment Saturday by going 1-for-2 with a double and a walk in five outings — he was scheduled to play a limited number of frames.

After taking Sunday off, Pollock caught a fly-out to center field for the first out of the Monday game. He was substituted for in the middle of the first inning and replaced as the leadoff hitter by Socrates Brito, per the MiLB gamecast.

“He had some right quad tightness, and he gave the evaluation to the trainer. As a result, we’re just really cautious with that,” Lovullo said.

With the D-backs in 37 games before his groin injury, Pollock slashed .299/.337/.455 with 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 11 RBI.
