Four Arizona Diamondbacks will head to the 2017 MLB All-Star game and two — Jake Lamb and Robbie Ray — will be making their first appearance. Paul Goldschmidt will be heading to his fifth consecutive MLB All-Star game, and Zack Greinke will appear in his fourth.

None of the D-backs were voted by fans as starters for the National League squad.

Three players from the Nationals (47-34) and two from the Rockies (48-36) made the league’s starting lineup ahead of the players from Arizona (52-31). Washington first baseman Ryan Zimmerman will start ahead of Goldschmidt, while Colorado’s Nolan Arenado will get the start at third in front of Lamb.

Goldschmidt has the strongest case as a snub. He leads MLB in RBI and of position players is second to the Yankees’ Aaron Judge in Wins Above Replacement. The 29-year-old is hitting .316 this year with 19 homers.

Lamb joins Matt Williams as the second D-back third baseman to make an All-Star appearance and has quietly put together his best season. He’s just behind Goldschmidt with 65 RBI so far.

The 33-year-old Greinke has appeared in the 2009, 2014 and 2015 All-Star games. He has gone 10-4 with a 3.05 ERA during his second year with the D-backs.

Ray has been the biggest surprise for Arizona this season. The 25-year-old left-hander is 8-4 with a 3.06 ERA and ranks fifth in MLB with 128 strikeouts on the season.
