For the second week in a row, Arizona sophomore quarterback Khalil Tate took home Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week honors after putting together another highlight-reel performance on the ground and through the air.

After winning a handful of national weekly honors, the admiration of LeBron James and the Pac-12 award after he rushed for an FBS quarterback record 327 yards in a win at Colorado last week, Tate put up 230 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 47-30 win against UCLA this weekend.

On the ground, Tate became the first FBS quarterback since 1997 to post two games of 200-plus rushing yards in a row.

Tate also completed 9-of-13 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown, making him 26-of-35 for 343 yards with a completion percentage of 74 percent this year.

For the first time this season, Arizona listed Tate as the lone starter for its depth chart heading into its next game against California.

“Now everybody is saying, ‘Why hasn’t he been starting the whole time?'” UA coach Rich Rodriguez told Doug & Wolf Monday on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station. “Well, he was a little bit banged up. For about three, three-and-a-half weeks, he hardly practiced ’cause of his shoulder.

“I just love the way he’s competing. The big guys up front I thought played their best game of the year, blocked well against some athletic guys.”
