Arizona Cardinals David Johnson may be sidelined with a wrist injury, but that doesn’t mean he stopped contributing off the field.

In its inaugural dinner, David Johnson’s Mission 31 Foundation raised close to $200,000 that will go toward providing opportunities, support and resources to seriously ill children and their families Monday night.

“I’m so excited to kick off my foundation and so thankful for the support I have received from this community and my team,” Johnson said. “My wife and I can’t wait to continue to grow this event and the foundation. We have always wanted to impact the lives of children and are so lucky to have the opportunity to change lives.”

Johnson and his wife Meghan, hosted more than 200 guests, including numerous members of the Cardinals. Those invited were able to bid on a variety of auction items.

Aside from hosting the event, The Johnsons made a $15,000 donation that will go toward jumpstarting programming for the foundation as well as helping launch DJ’s Lockers — technology centers that provide patients and their families access to electronics to serve as a source of entertainment, while also serving as a sort of release from treatment and recovery.

DJ’s Lockers will be placed in children’s hospitals and Ronald McDonald House Charities locations.
