Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was named as the team’s recipient of the the 2018 Heart and Hustle Award, the MLB Players Alumni Association announced Tuesday.

The award is given to one player on each of the 30 teams before one overall winner is chosen closer to the end of the season.

“We are proud to present this award to Paul for the fifth time,” MLBPAA CEO Dan Foster said in a release. “He emobides all the qualities the Heart and Hustle Award represents.”

The award is said to be given to players based on their “passion, desire, and work ethic demonstrated both on and off the field,” a release read, adding that the final winner will be announced on Nov. 8 at a fundraiser for youth baseball clinics.

Goldschmidt is known for his All-Star caliber play on the field but has frequently been an example for humility and generosity off of it, displayed in part by Goldy’s Fund 4 Kids. Goldschmidt and his wife, Amy, raise money for Phoenix Children’s Hospital through that fund.

On the field, the six-time All-Star is hitting .276 this season with 22 home runs, 53 RBI and a .906 OPS. He has hit .350 since June 1.
