By the numbers: QB Manny Wilkins’ career at ASU

Believe it or not, it has been more than two years since then-redshirt sophomore Manny Wilkins was thrust into ASU’s starting quarterback role for the first time.

Since then, Wilkins has been one of the leaders on this squad and one of the most successful quarterbacks in program history. That’s no exception this year.

In his senior season, Wilkins has thrown for almost 3,000 yards and 19 touchdowns. Additionally, he’s posted a solid completion percentage of 63.0.

The Sun Devils are bowl eligible, so Wilkins has one game left in his ASU career. But he has already cemented his legacy as a Sun Devil.

Here is a look at Wilkins’ college career by the numbers:

With one game outstanding in his Sun Devil career, Wilkins is tied with Taylor Kelly for the highest career completion percentage in school history: 63.3. Though a strong receiving core has benefited his stat line, he has been incredibly accurate throughout his ASU career.

Going off the topic of accuracy, Wilkins has also done a good job of avoiding turnovers, throwing just 21 interceptions over his entire career. It’s worth noting that nine of those picks occurred during his first season as a starter, his sophomore year.

Since then, he’s posted an impressive touchdown-interception ratio of 39 to 12.

In his three seasons as Arizona State’s starting quarterback, Wilkins has thrown for 8,495 yards. That’s good enough for fifth-most passing yards in program history.

Realistically, Wilkins can move up to third on the list with a strong performance in the bowl game. He currently trails Jake Plummer, who is third, by 332 yards.

In addition to passing yards, Wilkins is also toward the top of ASU’s all-time list in passing touchdowns. He currently sits sixth in the program in the statistic, but he won’t climb the ranks with just one game left because he trails Danny White by 13 touchdowns.

Much of Arizona State’s success on offense the past three seasons can be traced back to Wilkins.

Despite some issues with accuracy on the deep ball throughout the season, Wilkins has posted highest passer rating of his career this season — 145.3. This high rating can be attributed to his stellar touchdown-interception ratio of 19 to four and a solid completion percentage.
