Hitting baseballs are probably what Paul Goldschmidt is best known for, but being humble is probably a close second.
The former Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman took out a full-page ad in the Arizona Republic on Sunday, thanking the state for his time spent in Arizona.

Goldschmidt thanked the fans, ownership, coaches and teammates, among others, for helping him kick off his career.
He had spent his entire eight-year MLB career with the D-backs and ranks second on the club all-time in home runs and RBI.
The last time the D-backs started someone besides Goldschmidt on opening day at frist base was when Juan Miranda started on April 1, 2011 against the Colorado Rockies.
Goldschmidt was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals on Dec. 5.
The D-backs open the 2019 season on April 5 against the Boston Red Sox at Chase Field.
