The Arizona Cardinals signed punter Ryan Winslow and released kicker Cole Murphy, a March pickup, on Thursday.

Winslow, 25, joined the Chicago Bears after going undrafted in 2018 and was released in training camp.

A Pittsburgh product, he was a First Team All-ACC pick in 2017 and averaged 44.5 yards per punt.

With Arizona, the punter joins veteran Andy Lee, who is under contract through 2020.

Lee quietly put together a strong season in 2018 amid the Cardinals’ three-win season, averaging 48.6 yards and 42.6 net yards per punt. Thirty-four percent of his 44 punts were punned into the 20-yard line.

Murphy joined the Cardinals on March 13 after spending the prior several months on the Alliance of American Football league’s San Diego Fleet before the league folded. In college at Syracuse, Murphy hit 118 of 123 extra points and connected on 71% of his field goal tries. He was a 2017 semifinalist for the Lou Groza award as a senior before going undrafted.

Arizona currently has third-year pro Zane Gonzalez on the roster at kicker. A midseason pickup in 2018, he played in five games with the Cardinals, hitting 7 of 9 field goals and 5 of 6 extra points.
