Calais Campbell is a top priority for Cards

Calais Campbell is coming off a season with the Arizona
Cardinals setting a personal, single-season high of 72
tackles, leading the team with eight sacks, and finishing
fourth on the team for unassisted tackles with 53.

The organization would like to see the free-agent-to-be
continue his growth continue, still in a Cardinals uniform.

“He’s had a great year for us, and we’re looking forward to
having many more years with Calais to come,” head coach Ken
Whisenhunt said during a press conference Monday.

A second round pick in 2008 out of the University of Miami,
Campbell has shown a steady increase in his performance at
defensive end. His contract was up at the end of this season
with a base salary of $600,000, and the Cardinals are making
it a top priority to see that he continues to play for them.

“I’m pretty superstitious, so I’m not going to say anything
that could jinx that,” Whisenhunt said. “That’s a focus for
us.”
