Kyler Murray posts video of Cardinals workout, throws to DeAndre Hopkins

Kyler Murray on Monday provided the first glimpses of the fledgling relationship between himself and Pro Bowl receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The Arizona Cardinals quarterback posted a video of his planned workouts this past week in the Dallas area. The minute-long clip shared to his Instagram account included the second-year quarterback dapping up Hopkins, who was acquired in an offseason trade with the Houston Texans.

Donning a yellow beanie, “equality” t-shirt and a “K1” chain, Murray is shown throwing to receivers like Hopkins, Andy Isabella and Christian Kirk. Other players featured in the video include running backs Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds, plus tight ends Maxx Williams and Dan Arnold.

But of course, the attention and the importance of a voluntary gathering was all about Murray getting some on-field time with Hopkins, who last year with the Texans made 104 receptions (third in the NFL) for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns.

According to NBC Sports’ Mike Florio, Murray paid the way for 20 of his teammates to join him near his home to get to know one another. Due to the coronavirus, the majority of offensive skill players haven’t gathered in person during to the NFL’s completely remote offseason program.

The trip cost Murray more than $40,000, Florio reported, and the quarterback paid for travel and living arrangements. Murray also planned workout sessions and off-the-field activities such as bowling and Top Golf, according to Florio.

Several of Murray’s teammates’ Instagram stories last week showed that some of the group visited Murray’s old stomping grounds: Allen High School’s impressive Eagle Stadium.

The group went forward with meeting in the Dallas area after the NFL Players Association’s medical director, Dr. Thom Mayer, advised players to avoid private workouts amid rising coronavirus numbers last weekend.
