Doug & Wolf’s Mock Draft recap

Apr 26, 2012, 12:54 AM | Updated: 1:54 am

The Doug & Wolf 2012 NFL Mock Draft finished just how it
started, with a Stanford Cardinal being selected.

Quarterback Andrew Luck went first overall to the
Indianapolis Colts and tight end Coby Fleener was picked
by the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants with the 32nd
and final selection.

After Luck, the mock draft continued with many of the top
rated players being selected, but not quite in the order
all the experts had predicted.

Quarterback Robert Griffin III, cornerback Morris
Claiborne, running back Trent Richardson, wide receiver
Justin Blackmon, wide receiver Michael Floyd, defensive
lineman/outside linebacker Melvin Ingram, offensive
lineman Matt Kalil, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and
offensive lineman Riley Reiff rounded out the top 10.

The Arizona Cardinals took Alabama outside linebacker
Courtney Upshaw one selection after the NFC West rival
Seattle Seahawks took middle linebacker Luke Kuechly out
of Boston College.

The Cleveland Browns had two picks in the round and they
selected the aforementioned Richardson and quarterback
Brandon Weeden to bolster their offensive backfield.

After gaining an extra first round pick in the Carson
Palmer trade, the Cincinnati Bengals took Stanford
offensive lineman David DeCastro and cornerback Dre
Kirkpatrick of Alabama.

The other team with two first round picks was the New
England Patriots. They took Clemson defensive end Andre
Branch and Memphis defensive tackle Dontari Poe.

The surprise of the day came from the Denver Broncos —
it’s fair to say they have been full of them this
offseason — when they selected Arizona State quarterback
Brock Osweiler.

Osweiler has been referred to some as a possible ‘steal of the draft.’ Maybe John
Elway and company feel the same and took what many would
believe to be a stretch.

The Doug & Wolf 2012 Mock Draft was loaded with what many
expect to be immediate impact players. We’ll see what the
paid general managers and coaches do with the real NFL
Draft on Thursday.
