After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for April 19, 2011: Diamondbacks 5,
Reds 4
Usually Spring Training is the place where players make their case that they belong on a MLB roster.
Don’t tell that to the Diamondbacks’ Ryan Roberts.
Having made the team only after Geoff Blum had to start the season on the DL, Roberts is solidifying his place on the D-backs’ team.
Arizona’s utility man was at it again on Tuesday homering twice to lead the team’s 5-4 win over the Reds.
Roberts is hitting .382 this season and is starting to get more and more playing time at third base.
It will become impossible for the team to send him back to Triple-A if he keeps hitting the way he has been.
I wonder if Geoff Blum has ever heard of Wally Pipp?
