After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for May 4, 2011: Rockies 6, Diamondbacks 4
Arizona starter Barry Enright got off to a great start throwing three scoreless innings and then homering in the bottom of the third inning to put the D-backs ahead 1-0 going into the fourth inning.
It was all downhill for Enright from that point forward.
Maybe he got tired from running the bases in his home run trot, but he struggled when returning to the mound the next inning.
He gave three runs in the fourth and then three more in the fifth inning and was done at that point.
Enright has the highest ERA (6.49) among D-back starters and one has to start to wonder if he will be the odd man out when Zach Duke returns from injury.
The bullpen did a nice job keeping Arizona close by tossing four scoreless innings.
The D-backs weren’t able to mount a rally until the ninth inning which ultimately fell short.
Kelly Johnson struck out to end the game, but did show signs of breaking out of his slump by homering in the sixth inning.
