The Arizona Diamondbacks climbed above .500 and leapfrogged over Colorado in the NL West with a 2-1 win against the Rockies on Wednesday.
Ian Kennedy was masterful pitching eight solid innings only giving up one run on seven hits.
The D-backs right-hander is starting to firmly establish himself as the team’s ace lowering his ERA to 3.01 with Wednesday’s outing.
The D-backs didn’t do much against Colorado starter Jason Hammel only getting five hits, but Chris Young was able to get the go-ahead single in the sixth inning.
Young also made a spectacular catch in the eighth inning robbing Ty Wigginton of a home run.
J.J. Putz came on in the ninth inning and closed out the game for his 14 save in 14 chances this season.
Kelly Johnson had two more hits for Arizona as he continues to find his swing.
Arizona(25-24), winners of eight of their nine, wraps up their four-game series against Colorado on Thursday looking to keep their second place standing in the division.
