After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for June 15, 2011: Giants 5, Diamondbacks 2
The Good:
Chris Young and Willie Bloomquist each hit solo homers against Giants starter Madison Bumgarner.
Arizona starter Joe Saunders gave the team a chance to win the game going seven innings, giving up three runs.
The Bad:
The D-backs were not very clutch at the plate going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position.
J.J. Putz had another rough outing giving up two runs in the ninth inning to pretty much seal the deal for the Giants.
You have to start to wonder if there is something to the back issues that have caused Putz to miss a few games.
He hasn’t seemed like the same pitcher for the last couple of weeks.
The Ugly:
The D-backs have now lost five straight against the Giants and seven of the eight games between the two teams this season.
