Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is taking Tuesday’s practice to assess where second-year quarterback Kyler Murray’s shoulder injury stands.

“He’s working through it,” the head coach said Monday via Zoom. “We’ll see how he feels tomorrow when we get out on the grass and see where we’re at practice-wise if we need to make any adjustments or if he can cut it loose.”

Kingsbury’s comments come after NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Murray “should be fine by his next start.”

The signal caller sustained a reported AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder in Thursday night’s 28-21 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Murray was sacked hard by defensive lineman Carlos Dunlap early on in the defeat and was seen wincing in pain on the sideline while trying to stay loose.

Not at 100%, Murray still managed to finish with 269 passing yards on 29-of-42 passing for two touchdowns and no interceptions. He wasn’t nearly as effective as he has been as a rusher, however, chipping in 15 yards on five attempts. It marked his worst performance as a rusher this season.

It would be a shot in the arm if Murray couldn’t suit up on Sunday.

All told, the quarterback has amassed 2,644 yards and 19 touchdowns, both good enough for 11th in the NFL, on 241-of-353 passing (68.2%) in 10 starts this season.

In the running game, the shifty Murray has totaled 619 yards and 10 scores on 92 carries (6.7 yards per attempt). He only trails Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook (13) for the NFL lead in rushing touchdowns.

“He feels good, we’re going to get him out there tomorrow … and see what he can do and adjust from there if need be,” Kingsbury said while on with Arizona Sports’ Burns & Gambo on Monday. “But talking to him today, I think he feels good about things going into the week.”
