45 out of 47 experts pick the Brewers over D-backs

After winning 94 games this season, many of which included
late inning comebacks, the Arizona Diamondbacks still
aren’t getting any love from MLB analysts.

Forty-five out of 47 national experts have picked the
Milwaukee Brewers to win the NLDS, which begins Saturday.

Pedro Gomez and Howard Bryant both of ESPN are the only
two that picked the D-backs to win the series.

Gomez — who lives in Ahwatukee — was on Arizona Sports
620’s Burns and Gambo to explain why he picked the
Diamondbacks.

“Of all those people I think I’m the only one that lives
here so I have seen this club and there is something
special about this year’s club,” Gomez said. “The
resiliency that this club has showed throughout the year
starting in April has been nothing short of phenomenal.”

Gomez is concerned with the D-backs’ lack of playoff
experience as well as the Brewers’ strong bullpen.

Also joining Burns and Gambo was Jeff Passan of Yahoo!
Sports, and he explained why the Diamondbacks won’t win
the series.

“I don’t understand how they won 94 games this season but
they did,” Passan said. “That said, when I look at the
postseason I look at the absolute power of your offense;
can you go out and just crush a team? I think the Brewers
can do that and the bullpen stacks up just as well. The
talent just supersedes that of the D-backs.”

Even though Passan doesn’t think the team will win this
year he believes the Diamondbacks will be a team to beat
in coming years.

“The Diamondbacks are in fantastic shape going forward,”
Passan said. “This is a team that is going to be great in
years to come. Any expectations this year I don’t think
are fair for fans to have but starting next year and the
year after yeah, that’s when you can look at this team and
say if they don’t go to a World Series then the season has
been a disappointment.”
