The Arizona Diamondbacks made the one-year signing of infielder Asdrubal Cabrera official on Monday.

The deal is reportedly worth $1.75 million plus $1.05 million in incentives, per MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

Cabrera spent the last two seasons with the Washington Nationals after being traded in 2019 from the Texas Rangers.

In the 2020 season, Cabrera posted a .242 batting average and 31 RBI in 52 games of the 60 games.

The 35-year-old veteran made his big league debut in 2007 with the Cleveland Indians, where he was named an All-Star in 2011 and 2012.

The D-backs will be Cabrera’s seventh team, after he has made stops with the Tampa Bay Rays (2015), New York Mets (2016-2018), Philadelphia Phillies (2018), Texas Rangers (2019) and Nationals (2014, 2019-2020).

“He’ll probably move around — a little first, a little third, a little second base,” manager Torey Lovullo said via Zoom on Monday.

“We know that his primaries are the corner infield spots and we’ll just lean on him for the consistency that he’s shown throughout the course of his career. He’s been an unbelievable performer, he’s been an unbelievable teammate and leader inside of the clubhouse. I’m not looking for that to change.”

In order to make room for Cabrera, the team placed right-handed pitcher Luis Frias on the injured list. Frias, 22, spent 2020 at the D-backs’ alternate training site.
