Arizona Diamondbacks’ right fielder Justin Upton is quite the hot
commodity these days. As the trade deadline draws closer, teams’ interest
in acquiring the 24-year-old’s services is heating up.
ESPN’s Jayson Stark tweeted Sunday, the Pittsburgh Pirates could be
emerging as a frontrunner in the Upton sweepstakes.
#Pirates so serious
about Justin Upton they’re sending signals they could include Starling Marte
in an Upton deal — but not Cole or Taillon— Jayson Stark

FOXSports.com’s Jon Morosi also tweeted of the Pirates’ interest in Upton.
#Pirates have a
scout watching Justin Upton in Chicago this weekend. #DBacks @MLBONFOX— Jon

The Pirates have long been linked as a possible suitor for Upton and have
the pieces that could entice General Manager Kevin Towers to make a deal,
if that’s the road he chooses to take.
