Last week, Athlon Sports released their ranking of head football coaches in the Pac-12.
Somewhat surprisingly, Todd Graham of Arizona State topped the list.
This week, Matt Hayes of Sporting News released his own conference coach rankings, and let’s just say his list looked a lot different than Athlon’s.
Graham came in seventh.
Has won 10 games each of the last two seasons and has raised ASU’s profile in the Pac-12. For years ASU has been seen as the sleeping giant on the West Coast. The question: can Graham do what others before him couldn’t, and make the Sun Devils a national progam?
It is interesting to note that Graham ranked fifth on the same list last season, before falling two spots following a 10-win campaign that saw the Sun Devils in the College Football Playoff discussion until a November road loss at Oregon State.
Speaking of Oregon State, their new head coach Gary Anderson, who hasn’t coached one game as the head of a Pac-12 program, outranks Graham. Anderson is sixth.
Stanford’s David Shaw topped the Sporting News ranking, followed by Washington’s Chris Petersen and UCLA’s Jim Mora, Jr.
