The Arizona Diamondbacks have activated pitcher Zac Gallen from the 10-day IL ahead of Saturday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, which he will start.

Gallen was pulled from his last start after two innings against the San Francisco Giants on July 2 with a hamstring injury.

He said the day after that the injury was deemed a mild Grade 1 hamstring strain.

Gallen will be looking for his first win since April 5, a seven-inning complete game shutout against the Atlanta Braves.

He is 1-4 on the season with a 4.17 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 41 innings pitched.

If he can get through seven innings against the Cubs, Gallen will have reached the 200 IP milestone for his career.

Gallen has missed time this season due to three separate injuries.

He missed the beginning of the year after suffering a hairline stress fracture in his right forearm.

Gallen again missed time in May and June due to a UCL sprain and then had to serve another IL stint due to the hamstring.

He will be making his 10th start of the season against the Cubs on Saturday, looking for his first win at home in 2021.
