The Arizona Cardinals’ road game against the Dallas Cowboys on Jan. 2 has been scheduled back to the afternoon Sunday slot.

The original 11 a.m. kickoff will now be 2:25 p.m. MST, the team announced Thursday. FOX will still carry the game.

There were previously 10 NFL games set for the early slot with only four in the afternoon, and the move gives the NFL the ability to better feature a matchup of NFC contenders.

The Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers will remain in the Sunday Night Football slot for Week 17, and no other games will change times.

The Cardinals-Cowboys matchup is the latest in a series of recent meetings.

Last season, Arizona played an October Monday Night Football game at Dallas and won 38-20. Arizona also defeated Dallas, 19-16, in the preseason opener this year.

Arizona’s visit to AT&T Stadium will be another homecoming for quarterback Kyler Murray, who grew up in the Dallas area and with a 42-0 record at Allen High School is regarded as one of the best high school quarterbacks in Texas history.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who is from New Braunfels, Texas, played quarterback at Texas Tech. He later coached as an assistant at Houston and Texas A&M before becoming Texas Tech’s head coach.

Before the road trip to Dallas, Arizona (10-3) faces the Detroit Lions this Sunday and the Indianapolis Colts on Christmas.

Dallas (9-4) faces the New York Giants this week and Washington Football Team next before the Week 17 battle against the Cardinals.
