Arizona Cardinals running back Tyler Allgeier was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week on Wednesday for his breakout performance in Sunday’s come-from-behind overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys.

The recognition marks Allgeier’s first player of the week honor of his career.

He is the third Cardinal to win a player of the week award this season after Chad Ryland (Week 6) and Simi Fehoko (Week 1) were each selected as NFC Special Teams Player of the Week earlier this year. The team’s three player of the week selections are the most for the Cardinals in a single season since seven in 2021.

Allgeier was the lone option out of the backfield for the Cardinals after injuries to Jeremiyah Love and Bam Knight forced Arizona to turn to the fifth-year professional out of BYU.

He finished with a career-high 147 rushing yards, 44 receiving yards, a touchdown on the ground and a touchdown through the air. Entering Sunday, he had 64 rushing yards combined over the previous three games and never more than 61 in a single game this season.

According to Next Gen Stats, his plus-96 rushing yards over expected were the most by an Arizona player since at least 2018.

The Cardinals found themselves trailing 17-3 before Allgeier kickstarted Arizona’s comeback by way of a 63-yard touchdown run at the end of the third quarter. It was the longest rushing touchdown in the league this season.

He then followed that up with a 52-yard rush on the ensuing possession and caped off the drive with a five-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who replaced Jacoby Brissett.
