Reports indicate that Arizona football coach Rich Rodriguez is set to meet with South Carolina officials about becoming its new football coach.

Fox Sport’s Bruce Feldman reported Thursday that Rodriguez, 52, also a former Clemson offensive coordinator, is just one of several candidates expected to be interviewed for the position that became vacant when Steve Spurrier announced his retirement earlier this season.

Others being considered include Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley, former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano and Cal coach Sonny Dkyes.

Feldman’s report was later confirmed by  Jason Scheer of WildcatAuthority.com.

Rodriguez was hired by Arizona in 2011 to replace Mike Stoops. In four years as head coach for the Wildcats, Rodriguez has a 32-20 record including  going 10-4 in 2014 to win the Pac-12 South and earning a trip to the Fiesta Bowl. This past season, Rodriguez’s Wildcats were 6-6.
