ASU has chance if it limits turnovers, big plays against Oregon

Arizona State has already surpassed the expectations many
fans went into the season with.

The team is currently ranked 18th in the nation with a 5-1
record, and appears to have an easy road to the Pac-12
championship game.

The Sun Devils really only have one test remaining on
their schedule, and it’s Saturday’s matchup against the
Oregon Ducks.

One ESPN college football analyst believes ASU must do two
things if they hope to come out of Autzen Stadium with a
win.

“To me its just about turnovers for Arizona State,” Ed
Cunningham told Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf.
“They’ve been getting them especially the last few games.”

Cunningham thinks if the Sun Devils can force three or
four turnovers, then they’ve won half the battle.

The other half is slowing down the Ducks and their quick-
scoring offense.

“It’s limiting those explosive 40, 50 60 yard plays to two
or three, not six or seven,” Cunningham said. “That really
has been the difference when Oregon plays an SEC school.”

Although slowing down the Ducks offense is much easier
said than done, the Sun Devils will look to do just that
Saturday night.

If ASU doesn’t win, though, it won’t really hurt the
team’s chances of winning the Pac-12 South. However, if
the team does win it can prove that the Sun Devils are
real contenders, not just in the Pac-12 South but the
entire conference.
