ASU’s Darby on Oregon: ‘We’re going to see them again’

Oct 19, 2012, 10:30 PM | Updated: Oct 20, 2012, 12:21 am

After a 43-21 loss that wasn’t even that close, many would feel the next time the Arizona State Sun Devils see the Oregon Ducks would be too soon.

ASU scored the first seven points of the game before watching helplessly as Oregon reeled off the next 43. The Ducks ran for a total of 406 yards in the game and, aside from the first minute of the game or so, were never really threatened.

No matter.

“There are things you take from the loss,” Sun Devil junior safety Alden Darby said after the game. “You can either hang your heads down and come back and face plant the rest of the season, or you can bounce back like a champion and still race towards that Pac-12 Championship like we’re going to do.

“We’re not going to let one loss take us down. We’re going to bounce back against UCLA and we’ve still got that same goal in mind, Pac-12 Championship. We’re going to see them again.”

With only one conference loss on their record thus far, the Sun Devils do control their Pac-12 destiny. Win out, and a spot in the championship game will be there for them.

Up next for Arizona State is a home game against UCLA, which will be followed by road tilts at Oregon State and USC. They’ll come home to face Washington State before finishing the regular season in Tucson against the Arizona Wildcats.
