Sun Devils to host annual ‘Salute to Service’ game against Utah

The Arizona State Sun Devils (5-4) are set to celebrate their annual Salute to Service Game against Utah (7-2) on Thursday night.
The game will honor and celebrate Arizona State’s history of military service by football players, which dates back all the way to 1898 with three players that were members of the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry in the Spanish-American War.
Sun Devil legend Pat Tillman has made the biggest impact as a former ASU student-athlete. After completing his college career and playing in the NFL for three seasons, Tillman turned down a multi-million-dollar contract, retired from football and enlisted in the United States Army in 2002. In 2004, he was deployed and stationed in Afghanistan where he was killed in duty by friendly fire at the age of 27.
Thursday night’s festivities will also include Senior Night, marking the final home game in the Sun Devil career for 20 seniors.
