After three weeks, only three NFL teams remain undefeated: the Cincinnati Bengals, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Arizona Cardinals.
Steve Keim is particularly excited about that third team.
The Cardinals general manager told Doug and Wolf Monday on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, “If you’d told me the third game of the year against San Francisco we would be playing with Drew Stanton and missing a significant amount of players on our team, and all 23 points in our win were scored by rookies, I would’ve probably called that one out.
“But it’s nice to have a win and it’s certainly good to see some of the young guys step up and play well.”
Keim was impressed by the team’s offensive line in Sunday’s comeback win against the San Francisco 49ers.
“We were able to do a nice job in protection,” Keim said. “The only times that they created pressure was when they brought heat, and Drew (Stanton) did a nice job finding the open receiver.”
He singled out the play of offensive tackles Jared Veldheer – whom he called “exceptional” in Sunday’s game – and Bobby Massie.
“Excellent,” Keim said when asked about Massie’s performance. “He did a great job versus #55, Ahmed Brooks, and I’m really, really impressed with the way Bobby’s continued to play.
“Not only with his pass protection, but creating some movement in the run game, his combination blocks to the second level, playing with great balance and strength on his feet.
“So Bobby’s done a really job for us, which we really needed him to step up and it looks like he’s taken some ownership in that position.”
