Cardinals-Texans injury report: Emari Demercado reportedly expected to return

The Cardinals are expected to get running back Emari Demercado (ankle) back for Arizona’s game at the Texans on Sunday, while Houston is not expected to have running back Nick Chubb (ribs), according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Demercado has not played since Nov. 16 when he totaled 20 yards on seven touches. Chubb saw one carry last week for Houston before seeing minimal practice participation this week.

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) was a nonparticipant at practice throughout the week, while defensive lineman Walter Nolen III (knee) was a limited participant.

Nolen was ruled questionable for Sunday’s game, as Arizona (3-10) is ramping up to play the Texans (8-5) in Houston.

A handful of key Cardinals players were ruled out on Friday, including Harrison, starting guard Evan Brown and safeties Jalen Thompson and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson.

Cornerback Max Melton (heel) again did not participate and was ruled out after he was limited on Wednesday.

Running back Trey Benson had the rest of his season shut down after coach Jonathan Gannon announced he will not come off injured reserve. Starting left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. is also out against the Texans after injuring his MCL.
