Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Nolan Arenado will return to the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Sports‘ John Gambadoro reported.
Arenado exited Sunday’s loss in Atlanta with left trunk discomfort and received an MRI on Monday. Trunk discomfort is described as pain or tightness in your chest, back, abdomen or sides.
Gambadoro suggested on Monday Arenado may “try to grind through” the issue, avoiding an IL stint.
Arenado enters Wednesday second on the team with 20 home runs and 62 RBIs.
What’s next for the Diamondbacks?
Losers of three in a row and now two games back of the San Diego Padres for the third and final wild card spot, Arizona will look to avoid being swept in Boston.
The D-backs have Brandon Pfaadt (7-1, 3.11 ERA) slated to start, and the Red Sox will send out Payton Tolle (8-6, 2.97 ERA).
First pitch is at 1:10 p.m. MST on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app.

He had an MRI on Monday? In Boston? I didn't know they had MRI machines in Boston, thought they were only in AZ.
Kidding aside, glad Nolan is back in the lineup!
