The announcement comes after starting running back David Johnson was forced out of Week 1’s contest and beyond with a wrist injury. Williams finished with five carries for 10 yards and a touchdown. He also caught one pass for two yards.
In 22 games as a running back, Williams has 555 yards and four touchdowns.
Williams, who is the team’s primary returner on special teams, will still handle the duties.
BA: Kerwynn Williams will continue to return kicks and punts.

Not like they really have much of a choice...If they don't put their best RB in there they could lose again.
The number one RB will continue to return kicks and punts? Boy, the supposed brilliance of this organization that I have been hearing about for the last couple years is really starting to wear off.
I'd have to agree. This is not smart. However, I am pleased to hear that they are giving KW his opportunity. Granted it is because of injuries, but, I have a feeling KW is going to do a good job. If not, he has Ellington, Penny, and CJ to help. Like BA said, DJ became DJ because of opportunities due to injuries. I'm not saying KW is another DJ. But I hope KW is does well.
He's short and close to the ground. Hes not scared to hit the holes between the tackles. He has speed. And he can catch the ball. See what happens. I have a feeling he'll be ok.
