Arizona Cardinals react to Chandler Jones trade

Some Arizona Cardinals reacted to the blockbuster trade for Chandler Jones on Twitter.

The Arizona Cardinals were close to reaching Super Bowl 50 last season, but fell short in the NFC Championship Game in large part due to their inability to pressure Carolina quarterback Cam Newton.

Afterwards, the team made no secret of its desire to upgrade the pass rush, and attempts to sign free agents Jason Pierre-Paul and Bruce Irvin indicated just how serious they were.

The Cardinals finally achieved their goal Tuesday when they acquired 2015 Pro Bowler Chandler Jones from the New England Patriots in exchange for lineman Jonathan Cooper and a second-round pick.

The trade shocked the NFL landscape, and instantly made Arizona’s defense substantially better.

Not surprisingly, members of the team were pleased with the deal, and they tweeted as much upon learning of the deal.

Of course, while the Cardinals were understandably excited about adding Jones, there were also some well wishes for Cooper, who will be leaving the team after three seasons.
