Arizona Cardinals safety Tyvon Branch has reportedly agreed to take a pay cut in order to free up cap space for the team.

ESPN.com’s Field Yates tweeted out the news out Friday morning.

Branch, 30, a former fourth-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2008, recorded 28 tackles in six games for the Cardinals last season. He suffered a groin injury and missed eight weeks. After coming back, he was placed on injured reserve for the second time following the Cardinals’ loss to the Miami Dolphins in December.

Branch signed a two-year deal worth $10 million which included a $5 million guarantee last March.

Earlier this week the Cardinals lost free agent players in Calais Campbell, Tony Jefferson and D.J Swearinger. Campbell elected to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Jefferson heads to the Baltimore Ravens and D.J Swearinger is moving to the Washington Redskins. The Cardinals were able to hold on to Chandler Jones after inking him to a five year deal worth $83 million with $53 million guaranteed.
