As the Diamondbacks welcomed the rival Los Angeles Dodgers to Chase Field, team ace Zack Greinke added another individual award to his collection.
On Friday, Greinke collected his third consecutive Golden Glove Award for his defensive play in 2016. He became the sixth Diamondbacks player to win the award.
He joins Steve Finely (1999, 2000, 2004), Orlando Hudson (2006-07), Gerardo Parra (2011, 2013), Paul Goldschmidt (2013, 2015), and A.J. Pollock (2013, 2015).

He also became the sixth NL pitcher to win it three times in a row. The others were Harvey Haddix (1958-60), Bobby Shantz (1961-64), Bob Gibson (1965-73), Phil Niekro (1978-80) and Greg Maddux (1990-2002, ’04-08).
Greinke recorded 28 putouts with only one error in 2016, while also being involved in four double plays. This season, Greinke has been on good defensive pace, recording two putouts and three assists in five chances. For his career, he is second in putouts and fourth in assists among active pitchers.
