Fans of the Division II Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions got a little crazy over the weekend, sticking their team with a technical foul for their antics.
Seconds into the game, the home crowd littered the floor with foreign objects, pelting players, referees and broadcasters with the items.
What were they throwing? Toys. Hundreds of them. Onto the floor. During a live game.
Why? Well, to help needy kids in Western Arkansas, of course.
Indeed, all of the toys were donated to the Salvation Army, who will pass them over to the kids.
It was the annual Toy Toss Game at UAFS. Each year, fans wait until the team’s first bucket to begin casting the toys — all soft, by rule — toward the hardwood.
The Lions went on to win their contest, 113-59, versus Ecclesia, who nobly declined to shoot the free throws they were given from the technical foul.
