The Phoenix Suns plan to interview former Orlando Magic head coach Frank Vogel for their head coaching vacancy, according to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

Vogel, 44, had success as the head coach of the Indiana Pacers from 2011-16.

After going 20-18 as the team’s interim coach and leading Indiana to the playoffs in 2011, he was officially named the team’s head coach later that summer.

He would then win 42, 49 and 56 games the next three seasons. That included back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals trips in 2013 and 2014.

After missing the playoffs in the 2014-15 season with a record of 38-44 and losing in the first round of the playoff the following season, the Pacers decided not to renew his contract.

He was soon after hired by the Orlando Magic, but was not able to turn their situation around, winning 54 games in two seasons before being fired on April 12.

Vogel joins Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer, former Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford, former Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale and Suns interim head coach Jay Triano as the five known coaches the Suns plan to interview.

Budenholzer has been meeting with the Suns since Monday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
