On his 28th birthday, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Godley headed to the mound with some added swagger against the San Diego Padres Saturday.

Godley came out donning the classic P.F. Flyers, using his inner Benny “the Jet” Rodriguez to his advantage.
Literally.
Facing an early 2-1 deficit in the second inning, Godley stepped up to the plate and swung away, hitting a RBI single to tie things up at Chase Field.

But it wasn’t just some ho hum RBI, it was a birthday RBI.
With that swing, Godley became the ninth pitcher since the 1996 season to record a RBI on their birthday.
He’s got some familiar company on the list as D-backs lefty Patrick Corbin was the last one to do it back in 2015 against the San Francisco Giants.
Former Cincinnati Red Aaron Harang leads all birthday hitters with two RBI.
That’s not all.
With his win, Godley joins Randy Johnson as the only D-backs pitchers to register a win on their birthdays.
Johnson accomplished the feat twice, getting wins in September of 1999 and 2004.
And as great as the P.F. Flyers were to start, Godley made a switch later on in the game back to his usual pair of cleats.
Godley went 5.1 innings with a 3.38 ERA, striking out eight batters and giving up two earned runs in Saturday’s 6-2 win. He’s now 3-1 on the season.
